The Lord is reminding us to be ready in season and out of season. Because of the great grace of God, seasons in the Spirit are not like seasons that we experience in the natural world. Because of the life of Jesus the vine flowing through us, the branches, we can always be producing the fruit of righteousness. It is not our fruit that He is looking for, but His fruit being produced in and through us.
So be watchful, be waiting and be mindful that we should always be preparing to meet the Bridegroom. The 5 foolish virgins spent all their time burning and gave no thought to storing up oil. When the voice cried out “The Bridegroom is coming!” they were busy scurrying around looking for oil when they should have been burning. They had nothing left when Jesus appeared.
I am reminded of 2 Peter 3 where we are warned about the danger of becoming lax as we wait for the return of the Lord. We are warned that in the last days, scoffers will arise saying “Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation.” Peter goes on to say that theses people willfully forget that the judgment of the flood came upon the earth suddenly.
So as we start our week, let’s keep the watch of the Lord and remember that He is looking for faithfulness when He returns.
Please continue to pray for April M. this week as she recovers from her bone marrow transplant. Also please pray for Christine W. as she is nearing the end of her pregnancy and needing almost complete bed rest. Also be praying for Jackie F.- complete healing of environmental allergies so that she can rejoin us for services.
As always, remember to pray for our missionaries!
Chandy and Sarah Thomas in Cyprus are planning to visit us again this year. They always bring a fresh word form the Lord and we have been greatly blessed by their ministry over the years. Please pray specifically for financial provision for the family to travel to the U.S. If you feel led to help meet this need, you can give to them directly here:
Be sure to mention Chandy and Sarah Thomas along with your donation.
Also pray for John and Joanne Cava as they are making plans to travel to Asia in October and minister to several missionaries there.
And please pray for Phil Plowman of Missionary Ventures Australia as he ministers in Oceania and Southeast Asia.
The Words of the Week are below for you to read and pray through as well as the sermon notes from Sunday are available on the sermon page. Be blessed this week and call us if you need us!
