As we head into the cooler season, let us be warmed in the knowledge that Christ sacrificed himself to atone for our sins eternally. The High Priest used to perform this cleansing annually, on the Day of Atonement. Before entering the Holy Place, he would wash his body in water, then dress in white robes. This foreshadowed Jesus, who is the true High Priest. As we surrender ourselves to the Lord, it is we who must clothe ourselves in white. By faith in Jesus, we receive the Holy Spirit, who gives us strength. We are called to keep our garments white and undefiled, to not let anything into our lives that could raise itself to be bigger than Jesus, to not allow idols a place in our heart. God gives us the strength to do this, through the Holy Spirit, who lives within us.
