The men’s group at The Refinery was founded on our identity as Christian men. We believe that identity determines behavior or as Proverbs 23:7 says “as he thinks in his heart, so is he.” In II Timothy 2:1-3 Paul gives us some good places to start when considering our identity as Christian men. He compares us to a good soldier, a hardworking farmer and a disciplined athlete. These comparisons teach us how to see ourselves in Christ and how to approach the Christian walk.
But above all, Paul gives us the foundational element of who we are in Romans 1:1. Here he opens his letter to the Romans by writing ‘Paul, a bondservant of Jesus Christ’. The word for bondservant found in Romans 1:1 is Doulos in the original Greek. It means ‘one who gives themselves up to another’s will’.
Our vision and mission is to learn how to fully surrender to Christ and His will, and to lead others to do the same. We do this by study, prayer and discussion and through various events like work days, sporting events and trips together.
Currently, men meet the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month at 7 pm.
